Dirk,
the "operating currents" listed in Jacob's site come from the US Masonlite
catalog - just like all US Transco / Masonlite distributors use.
As we all know, there are many variables to consider both in electrode
selection and processing, but Masonlite stand behind these recomandations
for both blue and red gas.
As for how the mA ranges are "grouped": 1) it was kept that way because it
was thought to give more information about the electrodes, and 2)the
transformer market here is expanding - we are getting both new sizes (ala
10.5 kVa), and new mA ratings (right David A?).
Finally, as I have said before, there continue to be changes and
improvements in many neon materials - Masonlite included.
(1990 was a long time ago)
