That's an interesting idea.  My bomber is indeed a powerline retro.  It's 
a 10 KVA - 20kv.  Wow - 40kv on high!  I can smell the ozone already.

I just might give that a try.  Eurocom makes a switchable 10/20 
bombarder - they probably did it the same way?  I am constantly fighting 
to strike an arc at a decent pressure on long border units.

Those powerline units were made for continuous duty out in the hot sun.  
I'd bet they're not even flinching doubling up the primary.
