Re: Getting started
Having encouraged by the fact that there are many giant gurus in the field
of scientific glass blowing and especially fused quartz blowing, I would
like to get some help in making a fused quartz apparatus. It involves a
chamber at 700C insulated through vacuum. This means that I cannot use
pyrex, and the vessel is like dewer. The inner chamber is heated using
some heating elements such as nichrome, so that there is a need for glass
to metal seals. I am aware of bomco, but I am looking for cheap solutions.
It may be able to make the parts using a grinder, and then join them, but
what do I need to use to join them, so that they dont fall apart. I am looking
for a quartz glass blower in the LA area to talk by phone also.
