Hi.
When I spent my apprenticeship in Toronto, the master bender I worked under
had much experience with blacklight (neon) tubing. Most of the glass was made
by Sylvania back in the 60's. From what I had bent it seemed harder in the
fires and definately more finicky while bending. Good annealing really was
important. The UV light output (not sure what frequency) seemed lower than
typical blacklight bulbs you can buy.
But the glass was colored or drawn very cleanly.
