Flashback
Sorry about the multiple posts. My service (AOL) assured me that they were
unable to post my mail due to a "system response" They lied. I'm beginning to
like AOL less and less. I've learned flashback has a lot to do with the
design of the bombarding transformer.I once worked in a shop that the
flashback was so severe I tried to isolate the pump from ground. Mounted the
pump and motor on a wood base and watched the belt light up like a sparkler
when I flashed back. A trip to the auto supply to by a temporary (non
conductive) belt and solved the problem. Can you imagine what a grounded
electrode would have done. I feel that sometimes it would be very inconvient
not to be able to pump open stopcock. When pumping larger units they tend to
outgas at the same rate the pump is evacuating. OK Morgan I know you disagree
but flashback should not dictate the position (open or closed) of the main
stopcock. David Ablon
